Homicide Offences

The act of trying to carry out a plan of murder. The intention to take a life is enough for charges to be laid.

A killing that is planned and deliberate, such as a contract killing.

Can be culpable or non-culpable and includes infanticide, manslaughter, and first and second-degree murders.

A law that is specific to women. When a mother causes the death of her newborn child by a wilful act or omission.

Committing an unlawful act that causes the death of another person. The homicide is not planned, and there is no intent to kill.

A deliberate killing that occurs without planning, like the intent to cause bodily harm, knowing it would likely result in death.
