Where the listings come from
Sources used to build the original directory included law firms’ websites and publicly accessible law-society directories. Listings may also include information provided by lawyers or their authorized representatives.
A person reviews profile claims, requests to be added and reports of inaccurate information. Listing information may be incomplete or out of date.
What Verified means
Verified means that a lawyer or an authorized representative has claimed a profile and confirmed control of it. It refers only to control of the profile, not confirmation of the lawyer’s licence, current standing, qualifications or quality of service. It is not a recommendation or endorsement by Criminal Code Help.
To check a lawyer’s current licensing and standing, use the law-society link on the listing or contact the relevant law society directly.
Directory data, emails and fees
We do not sell or rent directory data or contact lists.
Lawyers can opt in to emails about paid options using the optional tick box on the claim form or request-a-listing form. Claiming or requesting a listing does not, by itself, subscribe someone to promotional emails. We may also send one introductory email to a lawyer’s publicly listed business email address where Canada’s anti-spam law permits it. We do not send further unsolicited promotional emails unless the lawyer opts in. Every promotional email includes an unsubscribe option.
We do not accept referral fees, lead fees or any share of a lawyer’s legal fees. Lawyers do not pay us for client referrals.
Corrections and removal
Anyone can report inaccurate listing information using the Report button on a listing. A lawyer or authorized representative can also use Report to request a correction or removal, or reply to a directory email from us.
A person reviews each request. You do not need to claim a profile or pay a fee to request a correction or removal. We may ask for information to confirm your identity or authority before acting on a removal request.

Who runs the directory
Criminal Code Help is operated by Crime Codex Inc., Calgary, Alberta. The directory is independent of law societies. Links to their websites do not mean that they endorse Criminal Code Help or its listings.
