Property Offences

Arson

Loan sharking involves lending someone money then charging them 60 percent or more in interest.
Extortion
Commonly known as blackmail, extortion is to force another person to do something through threats, accusations, menaces, or violence.
Forgery
Making a document "that you know to be false" to pass it off as genuine. The maximum penalty for forgery charges ranges from 10 to 14 years.
Mail Theft
If you steal mail, a Canada Post bag, sack or other container used to convey mail you can be charged, even if it didn't contain mail.
Mischief
Mischief is the wilful destruction of property, making it dangerous or useless to others.
Possession of Stolen Goods
It is an offence to be in possession of any item obtained through a criminal act, such as theft.
Robbery
Taking property that is not rightfully yours with the use of threats or violence and even weapons.
Theft
Taking property from others without their consent, unless you honestly believe it is yours.
Vandalism
Vandalism is covered by mischief charges and can come in many forms.
